Richard studied dentistry at King’s College London and qualified in 1992. Following a House Officer post at King’s and St George’s Hospitals he spent two years as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at hospitals in Reading and Brighton. During this time he was awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FDS RCS).
He spent the next year working in general dental practice in South London before starting the three-year postgraduate Orthodontic Specialist Training Course at Guy’s Hospital. He was awarded an MSc from the University of London and the Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth RCS) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in September 2000 allowing him to be registered as a specialist orthodontist with the General Dental Council.
Richard starting working in specialist orthodontic practice in 2000 and became a co-director of Total Orthodontics Ltd in 2006 (until it merged with BUPA Dental in 2015) and was responsible for all their marketing activity.
He has been chairman of the Tunbridge Wells Orthodontic Study Group, Membership Secretary and Committee Member of the British Lingual Orthodontic Society and Editor of the British Orthodontic Society bulletin (BOS News). Most recently he has been a Board Member of the British Orthodontic Society and held the post of Director of External Relations. In this role he had overall responsibility for raising the profile of orthodontics to the public and within the dental profession.
Richard has over twenty years experience providing high quality orthodontic treatment and has a particular interest in adult orthodontics including complex multidisciplinary cases. He is a Platinum Level Invisalign provider.
